Brandkind people: Iita Satukangas
As Brandkind’s Junior Creative, Iita Satukangas puts her visual wizardry to good use across a wide range of projects related to many industries and applications from sawmills to valves. Learning about these businesses while making the most of Brandkind’s exemplary teamwork provides double the job satisfaction and motivation.

The start of a long career
Iita joined Brandkind two and a half years ago as she was finishing her studies at the Keuda vocational school near Helsinki. “My studies were in Media Services Implementation, which sounds quite fancy,” she explains, “where I learned a lot about using visualisation to communicate important messages. It was a good grounding for working here.”
As her studies drew to a close, she joined Brandkind and immediately began working on some of our biggest projects. It was important that Brandkind gave her the support she needed to get started. “This is definitely a good place to start my career,” Iita continues. “I got responsibility from the beginning, but at the same time I wasn’t put under too much pressure and allowed to learn at my own pace and let my creativity adjust to the work. And there has always been encouragement to learn new skills as well.”
Understanding and learning, but no pressure
Many of Iita’s favourite projects so far have been for Metsä Fibre, where she has created animations for the new mills in Rauma and Kemi and learned a lot about our customer’s business. “Going to a sawmill for a photo shoot was really interesting. To actually go on-site and see these processes in action was inspiring. Making customers happy is about listening to them and being open to comments, but to do the work in the first place we need to understand what they do, and this is the best way to do that.”
For all our creatives, learning about new industries and businesses is necessary, especially when, like Iita, one is involved in several projects of quite different types. “I work as a bit of a floating creative, so I help out in any projects as needed. It can get a bit hectic so it’s important to focus your efforts efficiently,” she says. “You can’t put too much pressure on yourself.”
Future thinking for customer satisfaction
It’s important to be open to new possibilities in creative communications, says Iita, and to be motivated to learn about them. In this way, you can keep motivation and interest in your own work high, which also benefits customers. Modern, digital communications open up even more ways to create effective messaging.
“I’m looking forward to a long career in the industry. I want to be good at everything! Right now, I really enjoy working with Photoshop, and you can do amazing things with it. But there’s a lot to look forward to as well. Future technology is really cool. I’m very interested in designing for the digital world which is ever expanding. There’s no danger AI will take our jobs, but it’s a great tool for us to help our customers.”
